...and other stuff, but it's the popcorn mix I can't get enough of.
I can't wait until table displays like this become mainstream.

Rumor has it,
They Might Be Giants is behind the jingles in the new
Dunkin' Donuts campaign. And they'll be playing a
FREE show at Penns Landing on 7/23!
Product Placement Deal Inked for Young-Adult BookI think product placement advertising needs to be exploited more. For example, Planned Parenthood (or friends thereof) could sponsor a chapter in the above book where the protagonist explains to her posse that sex ed is actually "super-cool."
Greenpeace could buy little signs in all the disaster remakes that say 'Support Greenpeace and help prevent disasters like these.' Perhaps including the word
environmental to indicate their message is not about the movie.
Movie billboards are definitely under-exploited. Billboards in movie scenes can easily be added in post-production and wouldn't be subject to normal regulations. Movie billboard classifieds.
The online gaming industry has already embraced the billboard concept. Hollywood won't be far behind.

Second Life MMO controversyMore...And in case you missed it, Sony's taken the game billboard concept (which can be anywhere, as opposed to a conventional real-world billboard) and applied it to good old reality with their graffiti PSP campaign.

It's a well-established concept that not every mutant can have flashy, cool powers. Just look to
Mystery Men,
The Tick, or
The Tick, or even
The Tick. If I could choose my own superpower, I would take the ability to put something on the tip of someone's tongue. It's crippling, yet non-destructive. Totally coincidental.
But what would my super-name be?
I could be
that guy... you know... the one with the thingie... and the stuff. Don't forget the stuff! What was his name?
I've had several bouts of stress-related sleep problems lately. Job. Last night's was acid-reflux that I must have choked on and/or inhaled. I was up for 2 hours while the burn went away. Antacids fixed the stomach, but the windpipe was very unhappy.
It made me think of the first song I recorded on my Fostex 4-track some 15 years ago.
Don't make me sing another song
'Cause my voice is sore and raw
Turn the lights out, go to bed
I'll be here in the morning
But you just cry and rub your head
Say you're looking for it instead
I'm lucky that you're mine you say
I just turn my head and sigh
Go to sleep, go to sleep, my one
Go to sleep, go to sleep, my one
Once you forget the things that you said so I guess you won't so I'll be here
Just another lullaby...
All day I've been coughing up bilious lung-butter. Yuk.
Last night I played X-Box until the pain subsided. Yes, I got a console. Overall the no game thing is only a moderate success. I can deal with that.
I feel the urge to blog more coming back. Stay tuned.
Also, Sony BMG will be giving Transformers: The Movie a more deluxe treatment on DVD in November (street date also TBA), timed to start the promotional push for Michael Bay's forthcoming Transformers live action film, due next year. The new DVD release will include never-before-seen footage, interviews, interactive games and collectible packaging, along with the film's soundtrack on CD.
